About MatleenaI am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist in private practice. I studied psychology in Finland and worked both as a Clinical and School Psychologist. I worked with children, adults and older adults, couples and families in kindergartens, schools and at health centres. I moved to the UK in 2000 where I studied Counselling Psychology. I worked in private practice and as a Specialist Counselling Psychologist for the National Health Service (NHS). I moved to Cyprus in 2006. I am a member of the Finnish Psychological Association and the British Psychological Society. I offer psychological assessments as well as short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy for adults. My work is predominantly based on existential-phenomenological and cognitive-behavioural approaches. With each client I aim to find a way of working that suits them best. I have a special interest in depression, stress and anxiety, old age, self-esteem problems and sleep difficulties, as well as existential questions such as the meaning in life. I find my work very rewarding because I see people change, develop and reach their potential. My interests outside work include literature, baking and walking. I am married with two children.
